This is manhole in my town. It is in
Mihara city. There are three kinds of things was drawn in it. Two flowers and one bird. Flowers are Japanese water iris and azalea. Bird is shrike. Japanese water iris is drawn in length and width, azalea is drawn in diagonally.
These three things are the symbols of
Mihara city:-O
Interesting picture. OjisanJake takes a lot of pictures of these. I also knew a guy back in Chiba who did crayon rubbings of these. I find these manholes very interesting.

返信削除I tried to imitate Mr.OjisanJake;-P
I could not only take interesting picture but also know about Osaka. I was very happy to do that:^D
I don't know the sentence:'crayon rubbings'. Courd you tell me about it??
Crayon rubbing is very easy. You take a large piece of paper, put it on top of the manhole, and then rub it with the side of the crayon. This way, you only get crayon on the parts of the paper that touch the manhole. We used to do this with gravestones when we were kids.
返信削除This is actually very similar to the wood block prints in Japan.
Oh, I understand about it!
返信削除That's interesting:-D
I'll try to make crayon rubbing if I go home next time!
